SWAT search warrants to remain sealed, for now - KGUN9 On Your Side, Tucson News, Weather & Sports
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - It's a story that's started a firestorm of controversy. SWAT officers bust into Jose Guerena's home and open fire after they say the former marine pointed an assault rifle at them. The attorney for Jose's wife Vanessa argued she deserves to know why the police were at her home that day.
Judge Deborah Bernini decided she's holding off on making a decision until after she meets with detectives. Bernini wants to discuss why the sheriff's department needs to keep those records sealed if so much information is already out there.
Bernini said in court she has three options. Either unseal the entire thing, keep it sealed or release a redacted version that keeps the sensitive information secret. That ruling is expected by the end of the week.
