Los Angeles Parking Tickets: Los Angeles Cracks Down On Unpaid Parking Ticket Offenders After Millions In Revenue Lost
If you've racked up several unpaid parking tickets in Los Angeles, city officials are coming after you more aggressively than before. An audit found that the city is missing out on at least $15 million in potential revenue because of scofflaws who fail to pay their fines.
City Controller Wendy Greuel said on Tuesday that 100,000 people in the city are responsible for 800,000 outstanding tickets. According to the audit, parking enforcement officers failed to take proper action on 73.5% of chronic offenders.
"We must send the message that these violations are unacceptable," Greuel said.
