DUIs in Ventura County could be tossed out abc7.com
VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- Hundreds of drunken driving convictions in Ventura County could be tossed out because of defective breathalyzer machines.
According to the Ventura County Star, eight Alco-Sensor V breathalyzers showed erratic results in blood-alcohol tests taken between Jan. 20 and March 31.
So far, there's no word on how many people charged with DUIs were tested with the defective machines.
All law enforcement agencies in Ventura County have stopped using the devices, and the defective machines are being fixed.
In the meantime, the county is using an older model.
