State Senate passes DREAM Act
ANNAPOLIS — A much-discussed and -debated plan to grant in-state college tuition to students who reside in Maryland but are not legally living in the United States moves forward this week after the Senate passed the measure Monday evening.
Following the vote, the bill's sponsor, Victor R. Ramirez (D-Dist. 47) of Cheverly, was met by cheers from students and their families who have lobbied for the legislation in recent weeks. The bill now heads to the House of Delegates.
