County Officials Justify Cutting Preschool By Saying Women Belong at Home | Change.org News

Frederick County, Maryland, officials were dealing with the local budget when their creative problem-solving took a turn for the sexist. The county, having decided to eliminate funding for Head Start, a preschool program for disadvantaged kids, offered up this solution for those families with children who might now find themselves without a place to go during the day: Make the women stay home and take care of them.

"The mother's role is primarily in the home," said Frederick County commissioner Paul Smith.
