Sentencing due in hate crime killing of immigrant -

Two men convicted of a hate crime in the beating death of an undocumented Mexican immigrant are scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday in a Pennsylvania federal court.

Derrick Donchak, of Shenandoah, and Brandon Piekarsky, of Shenandoah Heights, were found guilty in federal court in October of several charges, including hate crimes and depriving the victim Luis Ramirez of his civil rights.

The two had previously been acquitted of murder charges in state court and convicted of simple assault.

During the federal trial, witnesses testified that racist language was used before and during the attack and that Ramirez was kicked in the head repeatedly after he fell down. The defendants, they said, didn't want immigrants in their neighborhood and repeatedly ordered Ramirez to leave.

Guest One less illegal to deal with. Many, many more to go. See what happened to East LA since they started breeding like coakroaches. You people are fools.

Guest Just the Federal Government pandering to the minority population AGAIN! This illegal alien became a criminal when he entered the country!!!

gapeterson is sorta correct about two things. 1) These kids murdered someone, they shouldn't have a ton of extra charges added on because they were white and he was mexican. why should minorities get special protection under the law? 2) I understand the frustration about the selectivity of the law
