SB1465: Mexican ID cards are no good in Arizona furthering dehumanization

It’s hard to keep up with the hundreds of bills coming up in the current session of the Arizona legislature, but a friend asked that I look into SB1465.

A Google search turns up no articles on this issue, other than a link to the actual bill, so I had to do some research. Luckily the text of the bill is really really short, but enough damage is caused in a sentence.

The first thing to notice is that this bill is being sponsored by Senator Gould, who is also the sponsor of SB1308/1309, the “14th Amendment” bills. You know there is going to be some right-wing extremism in anything he writes.

SB1465 is a bill that nulls all Consular ID (CID) cards.

In a nutshell, if you have a CID, that is not valid as identification in Arizona.
This would mean that the person, a migrant, would then not have any valid ID in Arizona… ahh, now the racism becomes apparent.
