Private corporations that own prisons were closely involved in the writing and passage of Arizona’s SB-1070 immigration law, according to a report heard on National Public Radio this week (NPR).
Back in July Jan Brewer, the state governor, justified the adoption of the shockingly anti-immigrant bill by saying that "law enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert either buried or just lying out there that have been beheaded."But it turns out that it may have been bucks, and not beheadings, that drove the bill. At the very least NPR's report is strongly questioning the governors motives.
