Report: Social Security Pumps $12.9 Billion Into Arizona's Economy Each Year Arizona Progress ACTION

According to a new report, Social Security pays out $12.9 billion dollars to almost 1 million Arizona residents each year. The report, “Social Security Works for Arizona” says that 1 out of 6 Arizona residents receive Social Security.

Over 10,000 Arizonans signed a petition asking Members of Congress to oppose, reject, and vote against any legislation that would eliminate the government-guaranteed benefits of the Social Security and Medicare programs. Local retirees across the state delivered the petition to Arizona’s congressional delegation on Tuesday. In addition to the petition, the delegation promised not to vote for any measure that would cut Social Security benefits or raise the retirement age.
