Detainees can be found with new immigration web tool immigration, search, tool - News - The Orange County Register
Federal officials launched a Web-based search tool Friday that aims to make it easier for family members and attorneys to find those in immigration custody at detention facilities across the country.
Advocates, lawyers and family members have long complained that it can be an ordeal to find someone who is taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement launched a new web tool today that allows the search of those in custody.
Now, agency officials said they're making it easier with the Online Detainee Locator System – a tool that allows the public to search the web for people who are in immigration custody. Juveniles in immigration custody are not searchable in the system.
